Why LDR Prostate Brachytherapy
over Surgery?

The choice between LDR prostate brachytherapy and surgery depends on various factors, including the patient’s health, the stage of the cancer, and individual preferences. Each option has its own advantages and disadvantages.

LDR prostate brachytherapy may be preferred over surgery because it is:

Minimally Invasive Procedure: LDR brachytherapy is a minimally invasive procedure, involving the placement of radioactive seeds directly into the prostate gland, targeting the cancer cells while minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissues.

Shorter Recovery Time: Patients undergoing LDR brachytherapy may experience a quicker recovery time compared to those undergoing surgery. In fact, most men can resume normal activity the following day.

Lower Risk of Certain Side Effects: LDR brachytherapy is associated with a lower risk of certain side effects, including blood loss, infection and urinary incontinence.

Outpatient Procedure: LDR brachytherapy is performed on an outpatient basis—patients go home on the same day as the procedure. Surgery, especially radical prostatectomy, typically requires a hospital stay.

Potential for Preserving Sexual Function: LDR brachytherapy may have a lower risk of causing erectile dysfunction compared to surgery, although individual experiences can vary.

Patient & Physician Success Stories

I feel very fortunate to have Dr. Bhatnagar as my radiation oncologist who performed my prostate seed implant. He was very thorough in explaining the treatment to me which made me feel very comfortable with him. The procedure was fairly simple for me.
I went to the hospital in the morning and went to sleep, and then I woke up with my prostate cancer treatment completed. Then I went home a few hours later the same day. I am very pleased with the outcomes thus far. As a physician and as a patient, I would highly recommend Dr. Bhatnagar for your cancer treatment.

Dr. Ib MPatient

It has been a pleasure to work with Dr. Bhatnagar for the past 15 years performing LDR prostate brachytherapy together. He is a very skilled brachytherapist with extensive experience translating to excellent clinical results for our patients. The patients really enjoy the multi-disciplinary team approach we are able to provide for them.

Dr. Biren PatelArizona Advanced Urology

I have never had a Doctor that I felt so comfortable with. Anytime I had a question or felt concerned about a possible issue about my procedure, before or after. It just took one call to express my issue or question & I always had an answer within the same day. Dr. Bhatnagar, & his staff are outstanding. I was impressed with the complete staff & the attention they gave me. If you need anything in the area of Dr. Bhatnagar profession or his staff. He's the one to call. Don't shy away! God Bless him & his staff.

Dear Dr. B,
We had full confidence in you even before meeting. Dr. Patel sent us to you and we just knew you would and are the best. Where do we begin to express in this note our appreciation and gratitude in providing your medical and professional skills and talents in giving us peace of mind for Luis and me to have more years ahead of us than not. Not only was the surgery successful but personally giving me the news gave me peace relief and my fears were finally fading away, Thank you!
Luis has had no recovery side-effects and that has just added to our appreciation to you and Dr. Patel. After meeting you the first time we were so excited to get the surgery done and it was because we believed in you!
