At the Prostate Cancer Institute of America, cancer treatment specialist Ajay Bhatnagar, MD, provides high-quality prostate cancer care to men throughout the United States.
Dr. Bhatnagar was born in London but spent most of his childhood in Pennsylvania. He earned his undergraduate degree in bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, graduating magna cum laude.

Dr. Bhatnagar brings more than 20 years of experience to the Prostate Cancer Institute of America, one of the only medical groups in the United States offering low-dose rate (LDR) brachytherapy. This treatment for men with localized prostate cancer (cancer that hasn’t spread beyond the prostate) is one of the most effective treatments when considering cure rates, side effects, and treatment duration.
Men from all over the country visit Dr. Bhatnagar to receive treatment for prostate cancer with Low Dose Rate (LDR) brachytherapy, including focal brachytherapy and rectal spacing (a procedure that protects the rectum and surrounding tissues from radiation).
Dr. Bhatnagar uses the latest technology, including the Theraseed® Pd-103 radioactive seed offered by Becton Dickinson and Theragenics, Cs-131 radioactive seed offered by Perspective Therapuetics, and rectal spacing with Barrigel®, the only rectal spacer that allows sculpting. Dr. Bhatnagar also uses real-time treatment planning during his brachytherapy cases which results in the most precise and accurate procedure.
When he isn’t meeting with patients, developing treatment plans, or completing surgery, Dr. Bhatnagar enjoys enhancing his professional skills. He serves on the board of the Arizona Medical Association, is a consultant to the Arizona Medical Board, and is a member of the American Brachytherapy Society.
Dr. Bhatnagar regularly collaborates with urologists. We welcome any man with prostate cancer to the Prostate Cancer Institute of America.
